The company was established by Sandra and Louis Baxter in 1983. The business expanded gradually over time, changing from a simple in-feather dealer processing for local restaurants, to processing for wholesalers and a wider market.
In 1999 Yorkshire Game acquired the business and venison expertise of Richard Townsend.
In April 2003 we moved into a brand new, custom-built EC licensed plant beside the A1 motorway, at Brompton-on-Swale, in North Yorkshire, England, with a permanent staff of 20.
The Baxters retired in 2005 and Richard Townsend took over from Sandy as MD. The demand for game has been strong and we now a full-time staff of 30 with an extra 30 temporary staff during the season.
Our Scottish sister company, Weatherall Foods, offers overnight deliveries of fresh game, processed in our plant, to the general public in mainland Britain.
